Another busy day. I was excited and nervous about having the cataract surgery, I guess. I knew I had to skip breakfast, so that wasn't a problem, and that I was to bring my eye drops with me. I forgot to swallow my blood pressure tablets, and that was a real mistake. But we went to Escondido, getting there an hour early. We stopped at a WalMart to look for some ornaments for our little tree, but all they had were big things. So we left, after having walked all the way to the back of the store and back. It must have been a block each way!
We drove on to the clinic, arriving just on time. I think our trip was fast, because the rain and cold wind were gone, and the traffic was light.
I waited about half an hour, and then was called in to the room with the three cots, where the people were given drops to dilate the eye to be operated on. Also, there were other drops to sanitize and lubricate the eye. For some reason, maybe my blood pressure, it took too long to dilate my eye, and I missed a turn at the surgery. But finally I got there, and Dr. Groesback started on it. In the meantime the two nurses and the anesthesiologist started telling jokes, and I was afraid the doctor would laugh and shake, so he would mess up my eye, but he didn't. I have to fill out a card telling how I was treated, and I'll tell them about This!
Karen and Chris had a sandwich for lunch, and they brought me one which I ate on the way home. When we got here I felt weak, and Chris got a wheel chair and took me up to the apartment. I soon felt better, but I rested most of the afternoon. Tonight I watched Rick Steve's Christmas show, filmed in 7 different countries.
